Getting Started
How SwipeLeft Works
SwipeLeft helps you clean up your photo library by letting you quickly review photos one at a time. Swipe left to mark a photo for deletion, swipe right to keep it. Once you've reviewed your photos, confirm deletions in the Trash tab.
Permissions
SwipeLeft requires full access to your photo library. All processing happens entirely on your device — your photos are never uploaded to any server. When prompted, select "Allow Full Access" to enable the app to display and manage your photos.
System Requirements
- iOS 17.0 or later
- iPhone (not optimized for iPad)
- Full photo library access
Subscription & Pricing
Free Tier
The free version includes 50 swipes per day. Your daily limit resets at midnight in your local time zone.
SwipeLeft Pro
Pro removes the daily swipe limit and unlocks unlimited access to all features.
- Pro Monthly: $4.99/month — auto-renews unless canceled
- Pro Lifetime: $14.99 one-time purchase — never expires
Managing Your Subscription
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. To change or cancel your subscription:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions
- Select SwipeLeft and choose your preferred option
- Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid being charged
Refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com (opens in new tab) and sign in with your Apple ID.
Photos & Privacy
On-Device Processing
SwipeLeft processes all photos locally on your device. No photos or videos are ever uploaded, synced, or transferred to external servers. Your library stays private.
How Deletion Works
When you swipe left on a photo, it moves to the in-app trash. After you confirm deletion in the Trash tab, photos are moved to the iOS "Recently Deleted" album where they remain recoverable for 30 days (per Apple's policy). After 30 days, iOS permanently deletes them.
Recovering Deleted Photos
If you accidentally deleted a photo:
- Open the Photos app on your iPhone
- Go to Albums → Recently Deleted
- Select the photo and tap Recover
- Photos remain recoverable for up to 30 days after deletion
Resetting Your Review History
To re-review photos you've already swiped on, go to Settings within the SwipeLeft app and tap "Reset Kept Photos." This clears your review history so all photos appear as unreviewed.
Troubleshooting
Photo Access Not Working
If SwipeLeft can't access your photos:
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos
- Find SwipeLeft in the list
- Select "Full Access"
- Restart the app
Subscription Not Recognized
If you've subscribed but the app still shows the free tier:
- Make sure you're signed in with the Apple ID used for the purchase
- Try closing and reopening the app
- Go to Settings → App Store → tap your Apple ID → check subscriptions
- If the issue persists, contact us (see below)
App Running Slowly or Crashing
- Make sure you're running the latest version of SwipeLeft
- Update to the latest version of iOS
- Restart your iPhone
- If you have a very large photo library, the initial load may be slower
Photos Not Showing Up
If some photos aren't appearing in SwipeLeft:
- Photos stored only in iCloud may need to download first — ensure you have a stable internet connection
- Verify that full photo library access is enabled (see above)
- Photos you've already reviewed won't appear again unless you reset your review history
Daily Swipe Limit
Free users get 50 swipes per day. The limit resets at midnight in your local time zone. To get unlimited swipes, upgrade to SwipeLeft Pro.
